Caparros: I will help Levante grow

Joaquin Caparros has commented on his challenge as Levante Coach and indicated that it will involve working at youth level too.

Los Granotes confirmed on Sunday the former Sevilla, Athletic Bilbao and Mallorca Coach’s appointment to replace Juan Ignacio Martinez.

“My challenge is to help Levante grow,” Caparros explained to reporters at his presentation this week.

“I come here with the utmost enthusiasm, we are a coaching staff that do not talk so much, we like to get into the guts of what makes Levante and to see things on the day to day.

“We are aware of the excellent work that has been done and that the stakes are high thanks to Juan Ignacio and Luis Garcia.

“Not only will we dedicate ourselves to the first team but we will collaborate with technical staff at the lower levels at Levante and put our experience on the table.”

Caparros was thought initially to have been offered a two-plus-one-year contract, but has only signed a 12-month agreement.

“It is important that we know each other, it would be very nice to have a contract for four or five years and then find after a game or two that there is no feeling between us.

“But I think we are tuned. When you have the first contact and talk candidly, enthusiasm and energy can connect you.”
