Javier Aguirre has signed a new one-year contract at Espanyol, to put to an end weeks of speculation.
The Mexican had been in renewal talks with the Catalan outfit since the start of May, but this week the club have confirmed that an agreement has been reached for another season together.
Negotiations had stalled recently and reportedly over a number of issues from the length of the deal on offer to the plans the club may have had to sell players this summer.
However, on Tuesday, Aguirre met with President Joan Collet at Cornella-El Prat ahead of the team’s tribute match to Dani Jarque to thrash out just minor details remaining, before the 54-year-old penned his agreement.
The club have confirmed the news via a statement and on Wednesday both Collet and Aguirre will be present at a Press conference.
