Pepe Mel is enthusiastic for Real Betis beating Real Zaragoza this weekend, as the European qualification it will guarantee will allow him to relax.
Betis can book a place in next year’s Europa League with three points at home to Zaragoza on Sunday evening, whilst a draw may also be enough if other results fall their way.
For the Coach, it is important that the moment is enjoyed.
“Football is for the players. It is fun and the games are for them,” Mel explained to reporters this week.
“You have to take a step back as Coach and let them enjoy it. If we succeed, I wish I could dye my hair or shave it, but this will be unlikely.
“What I have clear is that within 24 hours of this my mind can then turn to the future. Winning on Sunday will see us not have to worry about anything.”
Mel has been linked as a possible candidate to replace Philippe Montanier at Real Sociedad next season.
“This is not the time to talk about Real Sociedad, it is normal for rumours. All at Betis only think about winning against Zaragoza.”
