Roberto Soldado has affirmed that the Valencia dressing room is all behind Ernesto Valverde signing a new contract at the club.
Valverde has taken Los Che from a poor start to the season under Mauricio Pellegrino back into contention for Champions League qualification, but uncertainty at boardroom level has seen the Coach hesitate on extending his contract beyond its June expiry.
“If the players can ask for something then it is to renew the Coach,” Soldado told reporters this week.
“I will get stick at training for this, but every day we are asking, as are the fans, and he is aware that people want him to stay, he has earned it.”
Valencia are currently level on points but below Real Sociedad on the head-to-head rule in the battle for the fourth and final Champions League qualification berth.
“The team has found a consistency that has put us back on target and hopefully we can achieve it.
“We have to focus on winning the finals that we have left.
“If La Real get into the Champions League then it will be because they deserve to more so than us and that they have been more consistent. We are not thinking of not making it, though.”
