‘Atleti unafraid and unapologetic’

Atletico Madrid midfielder Mario Suarez has determined that he and his teammates have what it takes to defeat Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey Final.

Atleti head into Friday’s Cup final having not beaten Madrid in their last 25 games, a run that stretches back to 1999.

“What people say does not bother me. We are very motivated,” commented Suarez on the role Los Colchoneros will likely take as underdogs.

“The others finals played since I arrived here we were not favourites and… This is a very important match.

“In one game we can beat them. we are unafraid and unapologetic.

“The controversy at Madrid with Mourinho? Honestly, with all due respect, I do not care what happens to Madrid. I care what happens in my dressing room.

“We have shown that we can play in finals. We have paid dearly for previous mistakes, we know we have to stay focused for the whole game.

“As the fans know, we are going into the game to win it for sure.”
