Fabio Coentrao took his place on the Real Madrid bench this weekend, only to be informed by teammates that he had not been selected in the matchday squad.
The Portuguese full-back travelled with the team out to Catalonia this weekend for their eventual 1-1 draw at Espanyol on Saturday evening, but was left out of the 18-man squad.
However, no-one seemed to have told the 25-year-old, until he sat down on the bench. With Karim Benzema and company in hysterics, it was down to Iker Casillas to point out to Coentrao that he had not been picked and that his seat was in the stands for the game.
Seeming to have no idea of his mistake, an embarrassed Coentrao then checked with Aitor Karanka before making his way up to join the likes of Sergio Ramos and Mesut Ozil upstairs. Cristiano Ronaldo later came out to take that final spot on the bench.
