‘Ozil showed what he’s capable of’

Real Madrid assistant Aitor Karanka has praised Mesut Ozil after the German midfielder guided Los Blancos to a 3-1 win over Real Betis.

The 24-year-old scored two as the Santiago Bernabeu side defeated the Verdiblancos on Saturday evening.

And the Coach has claimed that the former Werder Bremen playmaker is a match-winner.

“We know the kind of player he is, what he creates, even when he isn’t as brilliant as we are used to,” Karanka told a Press conference.

“He didn’t play in Bilbao last week because he was carrying a niggle and to have these sensations after playing for 90 minutes was important for him. He played well. The main thing and what we wanted was to win the match.”

Jose Mourinho's right-hand man then commented on Brazilian midfielder Casemiro, who made his debut.

“He made a great performance. He’s been our player since the start of the season. When we need him he always performs.

He is the Castilla captain and one of the leaders. Furthermore, he trains with us and makes progress and plays in the matches that he can for us. It’s important for him to combine the two things.”
