‘Malaga won’t give up on top four’

Julio Baptista has insisted that his Malaga side will 'not give up' on a top four finish, despite being disqualified from European competitions next season.

The Andalusian club aren't allowed to participate in Europe next term after UEFA banned them following a series of suspect financial dealings.

But the Brazilian attacker has claimed that that won't stop his team from ending the campaign well.

“Football takes away things, but it also gives them back,” he told reporters. “We got three very important points last weekend [against Osasuna] to keep us in contention for the European places.

“We are not giving up on anything. We know we have to win a lot of games to stay up there, but we will try.

“Now we travel to Valencia, who are a very strong side. We know it's going to be a difficult challenge.

“But it's very important we don't lose this game.”
