Gonzalo Higuain was pleased with Real Madrid’s continued success away to Athletic Bilbao and hopes for the form to be carried on this term.
Los Blancos continued a recent improved domestic run with a 3-0 win at San Mames on Sunday, with Higuain netting the final of the night after two from Cristiano Ronaldo.
“It was a repeat of the result in previous years. I'm happy because of the win and because I played and scoring a goal is important,” commented the Argentine post-match.
“We won well, but at times we had problems because Athletic are a good team. This is a stadium where we know how to play and it is a very special place because we won the League here last year.
“The atmosphere here is always very tough. I have been with the team for many years and I know it is a difficult place to come, but in the last three seasons we have won by a big margin and that is good.
“We are in a good run of form and now is the nice part of the season, so hopefully we can do well.”
On the horizon is a Champions League semi-final with Borussia Dortmund.
“Borussia Dortmund are a tough opponent, they have won the last two league titles in Germany.
“They are an opponent that we have to respect but we are Real Madrid and we have to go out to win the tie.”
