Real Madrid may go into the first leg of their Champions League semi-final without an available senior right-back for selection.
Michael Essien is seen as a doubt to take the role against opponents yet to be determined, after suffering a thigh injury in this week’s quarter-final second leg match against Galatasaray.
Meanwhile, regular full-back Alvaro Arbeloa is suspended for the first leg of the semi-final for his sending off late on in Tuesday’s game.
At this early stage, reports are that Essien is going to struggle to be fit in time for April 23 or 24’s first leg, suggestive that Sergio Ramos will return to the role and Pepe will come in alongside Raphael Varane in the centre of defence.
