Jose Luis Mendilibar assumed responsibility for Osasuna’s defeat to Espanyol, commenting that he is responsible for keeping the team motivated.
The Pamplona side fell to a 2-0 home defeat to Javier Aguirre’s men on Sunday to leave them 15th in the table, five clear of the relegation zone.
“We cannot rest. We have to do the work ourselves,” commented Mendilibar on the threat of relegation yesterday.
“If it is true that we have to play with more pressure so as for things to do well, then that is my fault, because I have to put that pressure on us to keep us from falling asleep.
“It cannot be that we bring out our best side when things are going wrong.
“The game? Espanyol have started with more tension, playing in our field.
“Soon they have scored against us in the second half and although we had some chances, the damage was done. They have acted in Osasuna and have won the game.”
