Adrian: Got to keep working

Adrian Lopez has reflected on his dip in form at Atletico Madrid, but is not downbeat for having lost his place in the team.

The versatile winger has been sidelined in recent games by Diego Simeone, after enduring a so-far indifferent campaign for Los Colchoneros.

Even so, Adrian is grateful for Simeone’s help and is determined to return to the fore as soon as possible.

“I’ve always noticed the Coach’s support, for me it is important and I appreciate it. I’m not playing well, but mentally I am fine.

“When you play less, you are looking to work and trying to be the best that you can be, when you are called up, so you can help out the team.

“I feel good, I want to keep striving and whenever I play, from the start or for just 10 minutes, I will do my best.

“It is clear that you always have to work to be in the team, this is normal.

“Here there is much competition, others are doing well and that makes you give your best too.

“In football there are times when things do not go your way. Now I am not playing much because the team is doing well, and I can only work and wait.”

The attacker was asked of the rumours linking Diego Ribas with a return to the club next summer.

“You all saw what level he was at with us. Here he is loved by the fans and by all of us. He is a great player with great quality and with a lot of good things that he can contribute.”
