Barca chief could face prison time

Sandro Rosell could face up to eight years in prison for illegally profiting from a Brazil – Portugal friendly in 2008, according to reports.

A Brazilian prosecutor has alleged that Rosell's sports marketing company Ailanto received €3.5m in public money to organise the game, and newspaper Folha de Sao Paulo claim that €400,000 of that ended up in his own personal account.

Similar allegations had previously been dismissed, but prosecutors have today insisted that this was due to a forged document being presented as evidence.

A new trial in Brazil has agreed to be heard, but Rosell's lawyer in the country, Antenor Madruga, has told the Associated Press that the allegations were 'ridiculous'.
