Aduriz hopes to end dry spell

Aritz Aduriz has admitted that Athletic Bilbao’s poor form coinciding with his dry run in front of goal is a concern.

The forward has 12 goals for the League season so far, but has not scored in his last five appearances, with Athletic picking up just four points in that spell and slipping back down the table.

“It is quite a few games now without scoring and the team is suffering. I want to end this streak and hopefully I can do so from Saturday,” commented the 32-year-old to reporters this week.

“If the team had won these past few matches then I would not be worried, but when you see that the results are not coming, then we have to face up to the challenge.

“I am still working as before. Sometimes there are runs where for five or so games the chances do not find the back of the net.

“There are many things to explain why you may not be scoring the goals. I can only continue to work well and I am convinced that they will come. All the players are working and in the end the goals will come. I hope it is soon.

“Is it about our playing style? We have a very definite style of play which is down to the Coach. We have no doubt that we are unanimously agreed on that aspect of what we are doing.”
