‘We looked liked fools, but…’

Jose Luis Mendilibar was less than complimentary about Osasuna’s start at Levante, but admitted that they eventually did enough for the win.

Los Rojillos came away from Ciutat de Valencia this Monday evening with a 2-0 win for the three points, thanks to late goals from Masoud Shojaei and Kike Sola.

“In the first half we looked like fools, they gave us the ball and the space and only had to wait for our errors,” began Mendilibar in his assessment of the win.

“Even in our strategy did none of us perform. In the second half, we completely changed. They did not create any danger and created an increasing number, then reached the goal thanks to Masoud and the readiness of Punal to provide a goal for Kike Sola.

“Important points? These are three points to add, we remain at the same distance from the dropzone as last week, but we’ve moved away from two teams that are more in the fight after losing.

“Here it seems that you advance and if you slow down then it costs you and you drop points. I think the teams below are going to fight very hard to not stay there.

“I do not think we have added anything more then three points – whilst they are very important, we are now looking to the next game.”
