‘Malaga working to improve’

Julio Baptista has assured reporters today that he and his teammates are working hard to put right Malaga’s recent dip in form.

The Costa del Sol outfit have seen disappointing performances against Porto and Real Betis in the last week result in consecutive defeats.

“We have been performing well physically, but we are keen to work hard this week to minimise our mistakes,” commented Brazilian forward Baptista to reporters today.

“We have been struggling to play our own style of football. We need to work hard this week and focus on what we’re doing wrong so we can improve.

“Atletico will be a very difficult match. They have made very few mistakes this season, so in order to win we need to put on a very strong performance.

“They are a difficult opponent, but a good team for us to play so as to put right our previous mistakes and play much better football.

“We only have one aim. Everyone in the team wants Malaga to progress as much as possible.

“As the season goes on, the matches are becoming more demanding, with a lot of pressure from rival teams, so we need to keep working as hard as we can.

“A difference of just one or two points can make the difference of being in Europe next year or not.”
