Demichelis: Actions not words

Martin Demichelis has come out to urge his Malaga teammates to show their worth and turn around a recent drop in form.

Malaga followed up the midweek loss at Porto with a 3-0 defeat to Real Betis to leave the race for fourth spot in the League wide open.

“After this match I think it’s time to be self-critical. Actions speak louder than words and we need to show that we’ve got courage and personality on the pitch in our next game,” commented the Argentine centre-back to reporters post-match.

“We need to get back that same level of character we’ve shown in previous League matches.  Tonight’s game was worse than Tuesday’s match against Porto.

“We knew what we’d be up against in Portugal, and we’re determined to turn things around during the second leg.

“Tonight’s match is more worrying as we were a goal down within the first minute, and conceded a surprise second goal, which I have some responsibility for.

“We didn’t step up our attack as much as we needed to, and underperformed in set pieces.”
