Real Madrid want €65m Bale

Real Madrid have expressed a direct interest in Tottenham winger Gareth Bale, according to reports in the British media.

The Sunday Telegraph has claimed that Los Blancos enquired about signing the Wales international last summer when they swooped for club-mate Luka Modric.

And despite being turned away by the north London club, President Florentino Perez has once again made contact with Andre Villas-Boas' side, asking to be given the opportunity to match any teams bids for the 23-year-old.

Stories emerged yesterday that Bayern Munich were the latest club to be keen on signing Bale, but with Perez to stand for re-election at the end of the season, he needs a marquee transfer to be given another four years.

It is believed that the former Southampton could cost as much as €65m
