Valencia calm over Costa talks

Valencia’s sporting director Braulio Vazquez met with Ricardo Costa’s agent yesterday to discuss the possibility of a new contract.

The club have reportedly indicated that they will not open talks with the Portuguese centre-back over renewing his contract until the end of the season.

Costa has more than once spoken of his intention to retire with the Mestalla outfit, with his agent Oscar Font reportedly keen to start talks now to extend the player’s deal beyond its June 2014 expiry.

However, Braulio reportedly met with Font yesterday to make clear that whilst the club also want to renew, they will not come forward with a new deal until the summer.

Portuguese international Costa, who has been with Los Che since the summer of 2010, will be 32 come the end of the season.
