Mel hopes lessons have been learned

Real Betis boss Pepe Mel hopes his side have learned lessons from their three previous clashes against Atletico Madrid this season.

The Verdiblancos lost 4-2 to the capital club back in September, and also went down 3-1 on aggregate against Diego Simeone's side in the Copa del Rey.

The 49-year-old though, believes his side can take heart as they prepare to play Atleti on Sunday.

“Radamel Falcao being out is a massive handicap for them,” he told a Press conference.

“And they've also played an intense game against Sevilla on Thursday.

“I hope my boys have learned from the three games we've played against them so far, but even without Falcao they have some top players.

“It is normal for any team to be tired after a long January, but I hope February and March can be successful months.”
