Valencia midfielder Fernando Gago could be on the verge of joining Argentine club Velez Sarsfield.
The 26-year-old was missing from Los Che's training session today, with Super Deporte claiming that he may be about to go back to his home country on a short-term deal.
Reports from Clarin and TYCSports also indicate that the former Real Madrid may join the Buenos Aires-based club until the end of the season, at which point they will have the option to buy Gago outright for €3.5m.
Rumours suggest that the combative midfielder was unhappy with the sacking of Mauricio Pellegrino earlier in the campaign, and wants to return to Argentina.
