Bielsa: Athletic still incomplete

Marcelo Bielsa admitted that Athletic Bilbao took a step forward against Real Betis, but also warned that they are still incomplete.

The Basques collected a 1-1 draw at high-flying Betis in the Monday night fixture after a strong second-half display.

“The improvements are always based on games won and for us they are necessary so as to progress,” began the Argentine in reflection post-match.

“We have played better than we have been doing and it is true that this has been a step forward, but of course we are incomplete.

“The first 20 minutes belonged to the opponent, but then, almost the entire second half, with some ups and downs, we have played very well, we created some chances and missed a lot of them.”

The Coach was asked if his decision to have Fernando Llorente warming up for a majority of the second half, only to not bring him on, was a punishment.

“No, he is an alternative option for the team, who has a job.”
