Jemez coy on Rayo future

Paco Jemez has rejected the chance to put straight whether he intends to stay on at Rayo Vallecano at the end of the season.

The tactician has pulled in the plaudits in recent weeks for leading Rayo up to sixth place in La Liga during his debut campaign in the top flight.

His contract stands alongside many of the playing staff at the club as expiring at the end of the season and today when quizzed on this he was only non-committal.

“I have no future, only to say that there is no clause, not for renewal or for objectives for me to then get more time at Rayo,” reflected the Coach at today’s Press conference.

“I do not like long contracts, I like to go every year, because this is like a marriage. This is the first year. There are times when you get along but then time passes and you start throwing the dishes at each other and I’m not for that.”

Jemez was speaking ahead of the weekend trip south to struggling Granada.

“It will be a difficult game against a team that cannot stumble again, as if they do the going will get tough. They should be playing with anxiety and we want them to do more defending than attacking.

“For this game we have casualties who, whilst important, should not be an excuse. We can take a competitive XI and those who I will call up are relaxed.

“We want to continue to overcome challenges and achieve a unique piece of history with five consecutive wins for Rayo in the League.

“We need look no further than tomorrow. We have to try to win, to give a good account of ourselves and to consolidate our position.”
