Manuel Iturra believes that Malaga were organised and brave enough against Barcelona to deserve their 2-2 draw on Wednesday night.
The Andalucians left the Camp Nou with a draw in this Copa del Rey first leg quarter-final, managing a last minute equaliser despite having been reduced to 10 men.
For Iturra, who netted the first goal of the night in capitalising on a stray pass from Thiago Alcantara, it was nothing less than deserved.
“We had a lot of faith. We stayed competitive in the game, we knew it would be a very difficult match, but that it was also 180 minutes long, so we have left the tie open,” he enthused to reporters afterwards.
“Despite the sending off, we were organised well on the field and thanks to our dead-ball situations we were able to draw level in the game.”
