Las Palmas leave Lobera proud

Sergio Lobera has praised his Las Palmas side for their performance against Real Betis, accepting that defeat can sometimes be accepted.

The Canary Islands outfit narrowly lost out on a place in the quarter-finals thanks to a 2-1 aggregate defeat in the Last 16 of the Copa del Rey.

“We’re hurting because we do not like losing, but we leave with our heads held high for what has been done in the field against a great team at a great level,” Coach Lobera told reporters.

“I am proud of the team for their achievements on the field, for the attitude of wanting to prove themselves to the fans that have travelled, with commitment and from the point of view of their football.

“There have been phases…but obviously you cannot always take the initiative with a team like that against us.

“But, we had chances to advance ourselves…but hey, we all know the level of the opponent and so it has proved. One mistake and they kill you.”
