Valverde concedes Valencia nerves

Ernesto Valverde admits that his Valencia team were unnerved by Osasuna in their second leg Copa del Rey clash on Tuesday.

A last minute Roberto Soldado goal ensured that Los Che ran out 2-1 winners on the night and 4-1 on aggregate in the Last 16 encounter, but for their Coach it was far from comfortable.

“Osasuna arrived with the disadvantage from the first leg and as bottom of the League. They came to gamble and they created us some problems,” commented Valverde at full-time.

“We struggled and our 1-0 lead lasted very little and a few nerves appeared, especially from the beginning of the second half.

“The opponents can always create danger and if so that can create an instability in the stands, we must try to generate their confidence in us. I wish we had been a little better.

“Now we are thinking towards Sevilla [in Week 19], who beat Osasuna with great difficulty last weekend, just as we had to in this game.”
