Marcelo Bielsa is reportedly testing out Aritz Aduriz and Fernando Llorente as a strike-partnership during Athletic Bilbao training this week.
The Basques are enduring a miserable season in the lower echelons of mid-table in La Liga, with last weekend’s start to 2013 a 3-1 defeat away to Levante.
For the visit of Rayo Vallecano this Friday evening and the closing fixture of the first half of the season, Argentine Coach Bielsa is reportedly contemplating a change in formation and a reintroduction for Llorente.
The Spain international, who is leaving the club at the end of his contract this summer, has been benched for a majority of the season in favour of Aduriz, who has responded with 11 League goals so far.
Bielsa is reported as having worked with both strikers in training this week, with the view to starting them together in the Athletic attack for the first time this season.
The Basques have netted just 22 times in the Primera Division so far this season.
