Bielsa: Lack of leadership cost us

Athletic Bilbao boss Marcelo Bielsa has blamed his side's 'lack of leadership' for their 3-1 loss to Levante on Saturday.

An early strike from Aritz Aduriz was cancelled out as goals from Christian Lell, Vicente Iborra and Nabil El Zhar gave the Granotes the three points.

But the Argentine Coach has claimed that his team, who saw Aymeric Laporte sent off just before half time, failed to make their dominance pay.

“It was a Levante less difficult than we had expected,” he told a Press conference. “But nevertheless, they won.

“We should have been able to reverse the adverse situation, but instead, we failed to impose our superiority on to the scoreboard.

“The defeat came as a result of the lack of leadership on our part. After we scored, we paused unnecessarily.

“We went deeper in the second half and paid for it.”
