‘Granada owe fans home win’

Guilherme Siqueira has commented that he and his Granada teammates feel indebted to their fans to beat Valencia this weekend.

The struggling Andalucians host Los Che on Saturday evening without a home win since September. For the full-back, whilst Valencia represent a challenge, Granada are motivated.

“We are rested, happy and motivated. We go into this game prepared and with good feelings,” explained Siqueira, in reference to the team’s last game having yielded a 2-1 win away to Osasuna.

“Valencia are fast, very fast on the wings and their players are always looking to their forward [Soldado], who is one of the best finishers in the Primera Division.

“What we have to do is to try to stop Soldado and to be faster than their players, without allowing them to think.

“Last year Los Carmenes was a fort and we feel a little indebted to the fans because we know that the desire of the people is to see a home win.

“We’re going to give everything to win the first game of 2013.”

Siqueira has been linked with a move to Atletico Madrid in the summer, but told reporters that the only knowledge he has of this is through those same reports.
