Espanyol boss Javier Aguirre believes his team can 'only hope for salvation' this season as they sit in 18th place in the table.
The Periquitos have won just three games so far in the campaign, but the Mexican Coach has claimed that with hard work they can avoid relegation.
“We can only hope for salvation,” he told EFE. “A lot of our rivals have been superior to us, but none of them have a better attitude, solidarity or commitment.
“The team have grown as a collective and on an individual level. We are getting better, but I am happy with what I've seen.
“We sharpen in attack, but this is done with hard work, time, effort and hours on the training pitch.
“The team is showing signs of distraction and bad decision-making in the last moments of games. It has already happened to us and it cannot happen again.”
