Tito Vilanova reportedly looked to reassure his Barcelona players yesterday in addressing them with the news that he has suffered a relapse.
Barcelona confirmed on Wednesday evening that the 44-year-old has seen a tumour return to his salivary gland and that he faces surgery this Thursday morning followed by six weeks of chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
In confirming the news to the players at training on Wednesday evening, Vilanova is reported as having spoken for only a few minutes and generally looked to present a reassuring message.
“Rest assured, this time it is not serious,” the Coach is reported by AS as telling his men.
“The cyst is in a different place and it is easier to treat.”
Meanwhile, Mundo Deportivo are running the line that he also added: “Now they will operate and it will be a while without me, but I will be back soon.”
