‘Valverde one of Spain’s best’

Johan Cruyff has congratulated Valencia on hiring Ernesto Valverde as Coach, as he believes him to be one of the most promising tacticians in Spain.

Valverde was brought in at Mestalla a few weeks ago to replace Mauricio Pellegrino after Los Che’s difficult start to the season and for former Barcelona player and Coach Cruyff, it was a wise move.

“He is a great asset for Valencia. As a player he was very intelligent and always conveyed his interest in football and in learning,” enthused the Dutchman to reporters today.

“As a Coach he is one of the most prominent and promising in all of Spain. I sincerely hope that Valencia once again achieve the results that their fans deserve, because they also have a good squad.”

Cruyff was speaking after presenting Los Che’s midfielder Sofiane Feghouli with the Algerian Footballer of the Year award.

“He is a player with great potential, physically he is powerful and he has technical quality and great spirit to be great.

“I believe that Valencia have a great player in him.”
