Malaga defender Sergio Sanchez is well aware of Eibar’s capacity to cause another Copa del Rey upset on Wednesday night.
The Segunda Division B outfit’s reward for shocking Athletic Bilbao in the last 32 is a last 16 meeting with Malaga, the first leg of which will be played at the Estadio Ipurua on Wednesday.
“Today, no team is easy, as if they have a good day they can leave you with a red face,” the full back remarked to journalists.
“In this case, with Eibar, we know that. We have to pay the utmost attention. This is an important competition, a beautiful one, and it’d be great if we could remain in all three competitions.”
Sanchez then reflected on the Saturday’s 2-0 win over his former club Sevilla.
“They were a direct rival for the Champions League, so it was a very good game and a great result. We had a tough start to the season with a lot of injuries, now we have to use our ability to get through this last stretch before New Year.
“I feel very comfortable in the starting line-up. In this team, whoever plays, it’s easy to feel good, as we are all very good friends.”
