Valverde concern over injuries

Ernesto Valverde has met with Valencia’s medical staff to try to get to the bottom of a recent spate of injuries at the club.

The new Coach is reportedly concerned by the unusually high number of muscle-related injuries to have been suffered by players since his arrival as Coach.

In just over seven days, Valverde has lost five players to similar ailments, losing goalkeeper Vicente Guaita and full-back Joao Pereira first to strains, before seeing Victor Ruiz and Fernando Gago ruled out until the new year and then Nelson Valdez declared as a doubt for 10 days too.

It is still unclear whether Tino Costa will be fit to face Rayo Vallecano on Sunday, but Aly Cissokho is fit again.

Valverde and his staff are said to favour more intense training sessions than predecessor Mauricio Pellegrino did, a possible explanation for the issue.
