Valladolid don’t want pats on back

Goalkeeper Dani Hernandez doesn’t want to see Real Valladolid relax on account of their good performance against Real Madrid.

The newly promoted outfit led Madrid twice at the Estadio Nuevo Jose Zorrilla on Saturday before succumbing to a 3-2 defeat. Even so Miroslav Djukic’s side are well placed, eighth with 21 points.

“During the week we said we were going to give it everything, and we stood up to a Real Madrid that is fighting for the Champions League,” Hernandez stated to reporters.

“But this is just a pat on the back. We want more, we have to keep improving and growing with work. It’s a shame, that a team of our size were able to go ahead twice against Madrid and couldn’t hold on, but we are already thinking of next week’s game against Deportivo La Coruna.”

The Venezuelan custodian was beaten by Mesut Ozil’s free kick prowess on Saturday.

“I was close, but very little can be done. At the end these are global stars who provide the small details to settle matches.”
