‘Best yet to come’ for Ramos

Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos has expressed his desire to see out his career at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The former Sevilla man was at odds with Madrid Coach Jose Mourinho earlier in the season but has resolved those differences, and was brimming with enthusiasm at the launch of his book ‘Sergio Ramos: Heart, character and passion’ today.

“I have nothing but gratitude to Real Madrid,” declared the 26-year-old. “Firstly I am grateful to [President] Florentino Perez for bringing me to the best club in the world. I also thank my colleagues for being here.”

Teammates Iker Casillas, Pepe, Mesut Ozil, Cristiano Ronaldo, Sami Khedira and Alvaro Morata were present for the ceremony.

“I am very happy and I feel rich. Hopefully I can retire in Madrid, but I hope to be here for many more years with the President. I’m in the meridian of my career. Hopefully there will be another book, and I will be remembered as a good guy.”

Perez was equally complimentary towards Ramos when he took the microphone.

“The Bernabeu is a temple where legend is forged. It is not easy to wear this shirt and play in this stadium. It takes talent and a dose of responsibility. The fans have welcomed Ramos as a new benchmark of Real Madrid. The best of you is yet to come Sergio.”
