Capdevila sees ‘another Espanyol’

Joan Capdevila has asked for ‘a little more patience’ from fans as Espanyol search for stability and aim to show a different side to their game this weekend.

Under new management in Javier Aguirre, Los Pericos face Sevilla this weekend at home, still bottom of the League and three points adrift of safety.

However, for veteran full-back Capdevila, the work is in place for the tide to turn in his team’s favour, if the fans continue to show their support.

“Our passion is our strength. We may be sad, but it is still in our power to save the situation and we will do everything possible to keep the fans happy,” he told reporters this week.

“So far they have been very patient but we ask for a little more because all together it will be easier to get out of this situation.

“We must find a unit that makes us harder to beat because we have to pick up points. Especially at Cornella-El Prat, which should give us the most points to get out of this situation.

“Against Sevilla you will see another Espanyol, more seasoned, knowing of the importance of what is at stake.

“We are trying to recover our drive. Results were not accompanying our work and that is what rules. Now with a new Coach we are looking for a bit of stability and we will start scoring points soon.”
