Malaga draw final group game

Two goals either side of half-time from Duda were not enough for Malaga as they drew 2-2 with Anderlecht.

With the Andalusians already guaranteed top-spot, Manuel Pellegrini rested some key players for the visit of the Belgian champions.

Some squad members on the fringes of the side were given their chance, and they seized their opportunity almost immediately.

Manuel Iturra struck an effort wide, Diego Buonanotte had a shot tipped over and Weligton blazed over, all within the first 20 minutes.

The home team continued to dominate, and they made that possession and intensity pay right on the stroke of half time.

A powerful shot from the edge of the area by Duda flew past Silvio Proto to give Los Boquerones the lead.

Whatever John van den Brom said to his side at the break, it clearly worked, as within five minutes of the restart, the visitors had equalised.

Dieumerci Mbokani laid in Jovanovic, and the Serbia international finished well, one-on-one with Carlos Kameni

Mbokani went close to completing the turn around, but he was left to rue that missed chance, as with an hour gone, Duda gave Malaga the lead again.

A chipped pass from Buonanotte went to the 32-year-old and he slipped his shot under the oncoming Proto.

The away team weren’t dispirited though, and equalised right on full time, as Mbokani stroked in Sacha Klejstan’s cross.
