Atleti eye deals for trio

Atletico Madrid are reportedly keen on sorting out new deals for Coach Diego Simeone, defender Joao Miranda and forward Adrian Lopez.

The club are understood to have identified these three individuals as priorities to agree to new deals and to have them signed in the early stages of the new year.

Simeone is believed by AS to have already reached an agreement in principle to sign a new contract at the Calderon, but in agreement with the club will only see this confirmed in public in early 2013.

Meanwhile, Brazilian centre-back Miranda is also in advanced talks, but is reportedly keen on a three-year extension to take him to June 2017, where the club are only offering an extra two years.

Adrian, meanwhile, who has widely been reported this season to have stalled on signing a renewal that has been on the table since late summer, has since changed agent and talks have reopened.

Jorge Mendes speaks for the versatile attacker and is handling Atleti’s desire of improving the player’s  €1.2m wage, increasing his €18m buyout clause and extending his stay beyond the current expiry of June 2015.

Meanwhile, Tiago Mendes is once more reported as unlikely to be handed a new deal at the club and will be allowed to leave next summer on a Bosman deal.
