Ortiz hoping for Granada revival

Granada simply can’t afford not to win Sunday’s relegation six pointer against Espanyol, says midfielder Juanma Ortiz.

Granada are 18th, just two points clear of bottom club Espanyol going into Sunday’s high noon showdown at Los Carmenes.

Only Espanyol have a worst home record than El Grana, who have won one, drawn two and lost three of their home fixtures.

“We must focus on the League and struggle out of our decline,” Ortiz told a Press conference today.

“Espanyol are in a delicate situation and we have to become strong in our own domain. We train to be an intense team, pressing, working and competitive, and hopefully on Sunday we will create chances and go for the game from minute one.

“It’s too early to talk about the end but this is an important game for us. It’s time to grit our teeth.”

Juan Antonio Anquela’s side were knocked out of the Copa del Rey by Real Zaragoza on away goals on Thursday.

“It was a very tight game, we lacked the third goal which would have taken us through. We must stay with that intensity and the good parts of the performance.”
