Valencia hand Feghouli ultimatum

Sofiane Feghouli’s future at Valencia beyond this season is in doubt, with reports today suggesting that Los Che have issued him a contract ultimatum.

The Frenchman has put in some strong performances for the club this season and has subsequently been in negotiations in recent weeks over extending his stay at Mestalla and improving his wage.

However, even with Valencia reportedly prepared to almost double the player’s annual salary from €800,000 to €1.5m and extend his deal by a further two years to June 2016, the player and his agent are believed to be holding out for more.

The situation is such, however, that Los Che are not budging and it is understood that President Manuel Llorente will inform the player to sign the deal already offered before Christmas or find a new club next summer.

With Feghouli’s current contract expiring in June 2014, Marca report that Valencia will start searching for replacements during the winter transfer market and then ship him out next summer, if he does not accept the deal on the table.

Feghouli, who is expected to miss up to six weeks of the season from January with Algeria at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations, has previously been linked with Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United.

The young midfielder drew headlines yesterday when he was reportedly detained by police for driving without a licence. The player will face a judge today to prove that he does have the correct documentation, which has reportedly now been brought over from France.
