Paco Herrera is enduring an identical start to 2012-13 that he did when last in La Liga, just as Celta Vigo are on record-breaking bad form.
Herrera’s side have picked up 11 points from the first 12 rounds of action this season, which as AS report, is the same total the tactician managed when he was last coaching in the top-flight.
That came back in 2000-01 with Numancia and despite it including a draw away to Barcelona and a win at home over Real Madrid, was enough to see Herrera sacked.
Celta’s start to this term is also officially their second worst start to a season in 25 years, with only the 1995-96 campaign providing fewer points – 10 – from the opening phase of a term.
The Galicians currently sit 16th in the table but their weekend draw at home to Sevilla saw them extend a winless run in all competitions to six matches. Celta travel away to Real Zaragoza this weekend.
