Malaga have received a further boost following qualification for the Champions League knockout stages after Tuesday’s 1-1 draw in Milan.
Brazilian striker Julio Baptista joined in training with the first-team squad on Wednesday evening after over a year out injured, having travelled to Italy with the rest of the players for the Milan game.
Baptista played his last official match for Malaga in a 3-2 win over Getafe on October 1, 2011, when he scored a late winner with a spectacular overhead kick.
However, since then he has suffered a series of injuries, the latest of which is a torn Achilles tendon problem picked up in July that required an operation, but is expected to be available for selection within the next three weeks.
