Aduriz double gives Bilbao win

A first half brace from Aritz Aduriz was enough to give Athletic Bilbao a 2-1 away win over Granada.

Both teams were looking to get their campaigns back on track after a poor start, but it was the home team who started the brightest. El Grana were dominating possession, and had a good free kick from Dani Benitez saved after 10 minutes.

It was Marcelo Bielsa men though, who took the lead on 13 minutes. Aduriz drew a foul from Pape Diakhate inside the area, and converted the subsequent penalty to give his side the lead.

The 31-year-old then doubled his, and his side's, tally midway through the half. A shot from the edge of the area crept past Tono, and ended up in the back of the net.

After the break, Juan Antonio Anquela’s team came flying out of the blocks, and pulled a goal back on 53 minutes. A Youssef El Arabi shot from outside the area beat Gorka Iraizoz and gave the Rojiblancos renewed momentum.

Despite some heavy pressure, it wasn’t enough for the home team, as Athletic held out for an invaluable three points.
