‘Getafe have dynamite up front’

Pablo Sarabia has defended the work of himself and his striking colleagues at Getafe this season, but admits that they must start scoring soon.

Between them, Getafe’s front-line have managed just the one League goal this season, with the rest of the team’s strikes coming from midfielders and defenders.

For Sarabia, this front-line has the potential for many goals, which he hopes will soon start to be shown on the pitch.

“Certainly we have a lot of dynamite up front, but we have to show it with goals,” he told reporters today.

“Alvaro and myself both think, as does Colunga and Paco, that we will bring many goals to the team, we just need to be given time.

“Alvaro and Paco are two great players. Everyone is different. Now Alvaro is playing, but Paco is a very good striker too and will score goals for sure. Both of them will.”

Sarabia started in midweek in the Copa del Rey clash with Ponferradina and netted his side’s second in a 4-0 win.

“It was an important game for those to have played less. I am quite happy for knowing how to respond and to take the minutes on the field that I got. We are all working well and realise that we have a very large squad.

“Here we work day by day to show what we can, what we are afforded on the pitch is a reflection of how we are seen [by the Coach].

“Midweek was an important game for everyone. As much for the Coach as for the players. We were all aware as players the other day, we had played fewer minutes. Each had a clear idea in his head that he had to do well.

“I had to give everything, as I will each time I am called upon.”
