Tottenham still in Negredo hunt

Tottenham Hotspur are still in the hunt for Sevilla striker Alvaro Negredo and could make a January bid for the Spanish international.

El Desmarque Sevilla has revealed that Los Nervionenses President Jose Maria del Nido admits rejecting a €20m offer from a Premier League club this summer, although he did not reveal which one it was.

However, it is believed to have come from Spurs when boss Andre Villas-Boas was looking to bolster his attacking options at White Hart Lane, and was made on August 31, the last day of the transfer market.

“It was not the day to accept any offers, and besides I thought this was one we could afford to turn down,” disclosed Del Nido.

A report in The People also maintained that former Spurs boss Harry Redknapp had also been in the hunt for Negredo in his time at the club, but the Londoners may fare better in the next transfer window.

Del Nido recently said that next year the Andalusians may be forced to sell in order to balance the books between January and June, and if the offer is substantial then a move might be on the cards.

It is even possible that Emanuel Adebayor may leave Spurs at the beginning of next year, increasing Negredo’s chances of a move to England.
