Levante slip past Granada

Levante eased to a comfortable home win over Granada on Sunday evening at the Ciutat de Valencia.

Los Granotes were in control of the Week 9 fixture from the off and took the lead early on thanks to Obafemi Martins’ clever turn and shot.

The Nigerian then got his fourth League goal for the team on the hour mark as he was set up by Pedro Lopez to finish with his left foot. Granada’s hesitant defending contributed greatly to the goal.

After that, the visitors responded with a brief flurry of attempts at Levante’s goal, having gone the first hour with just the one to their name.

However, with 15 minutes to go, Martins, Barkero and Michel all combined in a smooth team move to set up Pedro Rios for an easy finish from the middle of the penalty box, leaving Levante in firm control of the fixture.

Again Granada took the ball in an attempt to gain a foothold in proceedings and after a few half-chances pulled one back through Youssef El Arabi’s finish.

However, it proved too little too late as Juan Ignacio Martinez’ team held out for a fourth consecutive win in all competitions.
