David Abraham has spoken with great admiration of weekend opponents Athletic Bilbao, calling Marcelo Bielsa ‘the best Coach in the world’.
The Argentine centre-back takes his Getafe teammates to San Mames this weekend and ahead of the fixture revealed his fondness for the Basque side.
“I have previously spoken highly of their ground, the atmosphere, how they encourage the team to fight for every ball, on every occasion and the crowd make it very easy for the team to go forwards. The fans there are special,” he told reporters today.
“The team is always dangerous and their Coach Marcelo Bielsa is the best in the world. As an Argentine I have always liked his way of directing and acting. Their teams are very dangerous in attack, they are strong, they do not give up for any ball and so we must be focused to win.”
Getafe go into the fixture off the back of a 1-0 home reverse to Levante, but Abraham is unconcerned.
“Last weekend’s loss was a step backward in the sense that we did not pick up a point, but we know that we are playing well, we are brave and have a fighting mentality that will see us pick up more points than we lose. The team is progressing and that is what gives us strength for the rest of the season.”
