Khedira faces fortnight out

As a consequence of inflaming a thigh injury picked up during the international break, Sami Khedira is now facing up to two weeks on the sidelines.

The German international originally injured his left leg whilst on duty with his national team earlier this month.

Missing the Celta Vigo game at the weekend in a bid to fully recover, the midfielder started Real’s 2-1 defeat at Borussia Dortmund last night, only to aggravate the injury and be forced off inside the opening 20 minutes of play.

Reports now are suggesting that there has been no tearing of the muscle, which will be confirmed through tests later on, but that the player must now sit out for up to two weeks.

It is understood that Khedira is being set up for a return to playing action by Real’s return fixture with Borussia at the Bernabeu on November 7.
