Aduriz will celebrate against Valencia

Aritz Aduriz has confirmed today that if he were to score at the weekend for Athletic Bilbao at Valencia then he would celebrate, ‘with respect’.

The 31-year-old spent two seasons at Mestalla with Los Che, before returning to Athletic in the summer for a third spell at San Mames.

With 17 goals from 58 appearances to his name whilst with Valencia, Aduriz was asked at today’s Press conference if he would celebrate against the Valencians, should he find the back of the net at the weekend, when Athletic visit Mestalla.

“Yes I will celebrate, although with my teammates and always with respect to Mestalla,” the forward responded.

“I always felt very important and involved at Valencia, and still do, even though I arrive as an opponent now. I am confident that my reception will be not bad.

“The memories are very fresh. I have many friendships there and am looking forward to seeing people again and enjoying Mestalla. People treated me very well there and there is affection on both sides.”

Even so, Aduriz also identified the public as the ones who could play a key part in Athletic picking up a result away from home.

“They are a crowd that demands a lot, but their team responds to their support. The key for us is in principle to create a climate of nervousness.

“However, despite not starting the season well, Valencia return to their natural position and will be up there in the table.”
